What is Chromia (CHR)?
Chromia (CHR) is the native token designed to empower the Chromia platform, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship between developers, users, and investors. It is an ERC20 token, but upon the launch of the Chromia mainnet, there will be a transition from an ERC20 token to a native one. The token has a maximum supply of 1,000,000,000 CHR, with a circulating supply that was reduced after the burn of ~22M CHR in May 2020. CHR plays several roles within the Chromia ecosystem, including serving as a "standard" currency, being used by dapps to pay hosting fees, and ensuring that providers have a stake in the Chromia ecosystem. CHR is used for system-wide purposes such as ERC20 token pegging, system node compensation pool, and development pool. The token is also used by dapps to pay hosting fees, thus compensating the nodes. Furthermore, it is used to make sure that providers have a stake in the Chromia ecosystem.
